Description
Cromarty Firth
for Guitar Quintet
(2x Steel Str., 2x Classical, 1x Bass Acoustic)
Duration: ca. 2’30”
by Edward Caine
parts included
This is a short quintet I wrote initially for a group at Bootham School in York. I tried to make it relatively easy – each part has either got a repeating minor third or a scalic passages, and some harmonics. While it proved too difficult for an educational piece, it is an enjoyable piece inspired by the minimalism of Steve Reich.
The name refers to an estuary in the North East of Scotland where I was brought up and is simply called that because it reminded me of living there.
